Dr Ferrero Vallana is an Associate Research Fellow with the Institute for Frontier Materials at Deakin University, Burwood campus. He completed his PhD in Chemistry at Queen’s University Belfast in 2018 working with Prof. Ken Seddon OBE, developing new materials for consumer good application in collaboration with Procter & Gamble. After moving to Australia, he has been working with Prof. Douglas MacFarlane at Monash University on the discovery of new catalyst for the electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction and on the design and testing of novel phase change materials for energy storage applications. In 2022 he joined Deakin University where he has been working on the synthesis of ionic liquids and organic ionic plastic crystals to be used as electrolytes for energy storage technologies.
